We had quite a long strolling performance tonight; a quartet performance and a full-group performance back to back, and right after my 3-hour long Youth Symphony rehearsal. Interesting. Well, we played in the restaurant at the Ritz Carlton, for the St. Louis Bar Association meeting, and it was a really weird room. Lots of huge columns, apparantly there for the support of the 15-floor hotel above it. Well, it was extremely difficult to work with, trying to shove strollers and waiters into that type of room.
Hey, you can get rid of CD scratches with toothpaste? I haven't tried it, I ought to, I picked this tip up at Idea Exchange:
- Get a clean, soft cloth and wipe the disc from the center outward with straight spoke-like strokes. Do NOT wipe the CD in circles; this will cause more scratches, more scratches, more scratches.
- Next squeeze a miniscule amount of toothpaste on to the scratch. Crest, Colgate, Ultrabrite or any other reputable brand will do nicely. With another soft, clean cloth, rub the toothpaste into the scratch and then remove any excess.
- Polish the CD with a chamois cloth and any petroleum based polishing solution--Armor-All, clear shoe polish, or Vaseline. Remember to wipe in straight lines from the inside out.
- Finally, squirt a drop of Windex or another water-based window cleaner on to the CD and wipe with yet another clean cloth.

Well, I got ahold of Need for Speed 5: Porsche Unleasehd, and I've been playing a little of it. Well, it's all Porsche, so in that sense it's kinda boring. The ability to drive Porsches from 1956 wore off after like one race. In the "Quick Race" mode, there are only 4 tracks (none of which are very interesting). And there's no Hot Pursuit. So, enough of the single races, on to the themes. Factory Driver is really really neat. You work as a Porsche factory driver, and drive through coned courses, and deliver cars in record time. It is awesome, there is nothing else like it. Driving coned courses is very fun. That makes the game worthwhile. And in that aspect, I don't mind that it is all Porsche.

Wow! The Plextor 12X/10X/32X drive with Burn-proof came in at school today. Now that is awesome. A 74-minute CD in 7 minutes! And it has Burn-proof, which is so awesome. I was doing all sorts of stuff and watched the buffer underrun, and it would just stop burning, then pick up where it left off!
