My high school's orchestra had a car wash today. We made it "free" but accepted donations. It was pretty fun, I don't mind washing cars really, cause I like cars, and I like playing with water too. We were doing fairly well. We had $290 by the time I had left, and that was only the first 2 hours of the Saturday, from 09:00 to 11:00. So that was pretty fun.

The movie Speed was on TV tonight. It was a great movie, the reoccuring images of "speed" were great, the action and all. It's a good thing I had planned beforehand to watch it so I could tape the entire thing.

The earthquake in Taiwan Tuesday was incredible. The situation is still incredible. Here are some quotes from Yahoo News. "More than 60 hours after the earthquake struck, at least 2,103 people were known dead, 7,800 injured and 1,844 still unaccounted for - the vast majority of whom were believed buried under rubble and landslides, the Disaster Management Center said."
"The Tuesday temblor had a preliminary magnitude of 7.6" "Aftershocks shook Taiwan throughout the day, with one hitting 5.6 on the open-ended Richter scale, hampering the dangerous work of tunneling through the unstable piles of concrete and steel." "More than 4,300 aftershocks have jolted the island, several Wednesday registering over 6.0, making them strong earthquakes in their own right."
Mitsubishi dropped their AWD version of the Eclipse, the GSX, with their new Eclipse. Man, that was an awesome car. So now I find to find another favourite performance car for that price range. As of now, it's the Audi A4 2.8. It's got Quattro, nice 30 valve (!!) (reminds me of 5 valve/cylinder engines that Ferrari has, gives that umph you need in the lower rpms) V6 that pumps out 190 horsepower, and it's a sedan that zips! The nice powerful engine on this little sedan will probably allow this car to zip almost as well as the old Eclipse, and it definately handles well. And the $30040 price is not bad! Interesting enough, traction control is standard. I wonder if it can be turned off for some tire-screeching driving. Hehe, another interesting luxury thing is the radio has a speed-sensitive volume control. Nifty. Standard also are 8-way power seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, high pressure headlight washers (!!!), and side impact airbags. This thing is quite luxurious too! Hehe, drag coeffocient is .29, 0-60 in 7.1 seconds. Nice.
The weather is getting colder here; I got a nice coat today, $99 for a nice wool black coat. I like it, it looks nice.

The first test for Calculus III class was tonight. It's 25% of the semester grade. Ok, Calculus is fun, and I like doing it, but that kind of pressure is something I need to start getting used to again.

Strolling Strings rehearsal was pretty cool today. We learned a couple new songs and are putting them into our next show on October 1st.

I downloaded Netscape Gecko the other day, the developer preview of Netscape's next browser. It's interesting, so far it looks as if the browser is less bloated and has an improved interface. We'll just have to see about that when it actually comes out. The way things are going now, I'm getting tired of bloated browsers and I might start using Netscape 3 again instead of 4.

The Tokyo-Nagoya Automated Highway System sounds totally cool! Automated highway! Wow, this is the future right here. Man, makes me want to do programming a highway something I want to do as a career.
