So around noon, I went down with Susan and her Grandpa and Beth to Columbia for the state Solo-Ensemble festival. I played my solo @ 1500, and it went fine, I guess. It sounded better yesterday, but owell, I can't complain, I did nothing to prepare for it, being sick all week. The quartet, which played late because the room ran behind, around 1700, went well also, I love that piece. Telemann Concerto for 4 Violins.
I had to set up sound for the stroll tonight! Ack! Must get back in town quickly. Owell, got to the Frontenac Hilton @ around 1900, enough to just plug some mics in, power up the mixer and go. Turns out, we didn't even play for that long anyways, but the audience was very receptive. I had some fun with that one.

Our church had two services this morning, and the orchestra played in both of them. The musical programming was extensive today.
Yikes, I have a throat infection. I collapsed in bed and let myself burn @ 102.5 degrees. Ouch. Wasn't good. Body aches all over. I was back on my feet around 1800 though, the amoxicillin and Advil seemed to finally kick in, with the help of some rest.
The Sultan of Brunei was getting a bit ticked off as he had 6 children, all girls, and therefore had no son and heir. Imagine his joy then, when one of his wives finally presented him with his only son and heir.
Just before his son's sixth birthday, the Sultan took him to one side and said, "Son, I am very proud of you. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son replied, "Daddy, I would like to have my own airplane." Not wanting to do anything halfway, his father bought him American Airlines.
Just before his son's seventh birthday, the Sultan took him to one side. "Son, you are my pride and joy. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son replied, "Daddy, I would like a boat." Not wanting to do anything halfway, his father bought him The Princess Cruise Lines.
Just before his son's eighth birthday, the Sultan took him to one side. "Son, you bring so much happiness into my life. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son replied, "Daddy, I would like to be able to watch cartoons." Not wanting to do anything halfway, his father bought him Disney Studios and their theaters, where he watched all his favorite cartoons.
Just before his son's ninth birthday, the Sultan took him to one side. "Son, you are an inspiration to us all. Anything you want, I shall get for you." His son, who had really gotten into the Disney cartoons, replied, "Daddy, I would like a Mickey Mouse outfit." Not wanting to do anything halfway, his father went and bought him Microsoft.
